With the relocation of Union Square Wines & Spirits to new larger premises, New York's most unique wine experience was unveiled.
As one media commentator noted . . . ."The days of in-store wine tastings as we know them—oenophiles and freeloaders making small talk with importers as they sip contemplatively from plastic cups—may be over. The future is upon us, in the form of a nifty new gizmo imported from Tuscany and installed in the recently relocated Union Square Wines & Spirits. The Enomatic wine system stores 48 open bottles, preserving them with argon gas, and dispensing 15-milliliter tastes at the swipe of a card that the store has preprogrammed with an introductory 1,000 points".

"I don’t write too often about store openings ..... but I’ve become obsessed with the three Enomatic Wine Serving System machines at the new Union Square Wines & Spirits, and I need to tell someone about them."
Enomatic customised the wine card system to work on a points basis, rather than currency. So customers earn and purchase tasting points to sample the high end wines before considering a purchase.
Located on 4th Avenue in Manhattan, the new 630m2 store features more than 4,000 wines including many timeless classics as well as hard-to-find handcrafted wines.
The new store holds numerous weekly tastings, provides sommelier recommendations from New York City's finest restaurants and has a large temperature-controlled wine room.
