When you are next in
San Francisco make sure you visit VinoVenue - an exciting new
wine tasting bar and retail store that has quickly become "The
place to taste". There are 104 wines available for tasting
from the Enomatic Wine Serving System.
VinoVenue uses Enomatic's Wine Cards to allow customers to serve
themselves and "try before they buy". The store also
has our Enotec software which records every wine a customer serves.
This creates an extremely valuable and powerful database of their
customers wine preferences.
As one of the first installations in the USA, VinoVenue has attracted
a lot of publicity in the US media and within the enthusiastic
wine community. An article in the San Francisco Chronicle commented
that the store concept "has the potential to revolutionise
wine tasting in the United States". The article also
quoted a leading retail consultant who noted that "VinoVenue
is a smart concept because sampling for any product increases
sales by a multiple of three to four". "It's a great
idea to move beyond what for a huge number of people is a big
fear: 'How do I know I'm going to like what I'm buying?'
Business 2.0 Magazine (a sister publication of TIME Magazine)
wrote a feature article about the VinoVenue concept under the
title "The Worlds Smartest Wine Bar".
Wine Spectator Online reported that VinoVenue makes "tasting
and buying decisions push-button easy" with a "user
friendly process".
Consumers in San Francisco love the concept, as one customer commented,
"I'm not a connoisseur but VinoVenue is making a connoisseur
out of me... for a very inexpensive price you can taste so many
wines".
About 60 percent of the wines are from California and 20 percent
of the wine selections change every month. A wide range of wines
are available for tasting including exclusive wines that are rarely
available for tasting such as Chateau D'Yquem Sauternes (US$292
a bottle).
