The pioneers who planted
the first commercial vines in the Central Otago wine region, Gibbston
Valley Wines, were also the first New Zealand winery
to adopt Enomatic as an integral part of their cellar door operations.
And they quickly reaped the benefits!
The installation of
the Enomatic Wine Serving System gave Gibbston Valley the confidence
to open and serve their premium and reserve cellar wines for tasting
- including their 2000 Reserve Pinot Noir which was awarded the
Trophy for Champion Pinot Noir of the World
at the 2001 International Wine Challenge.
The 3 volume
enoline model enables winery visitors to taste these rare wines
whilst half and full glasses of the wines are also available from
the wine list in the restaurant.
In the tasting room Gibbston
Valley have put together a wide range of tasting flight options
that includes tastings of vertical vintages. This educates
customers on the development of their wines over time and encourages
customers to purchase more of the current vintage for cellaring.
As Operations Manager,
Denis Jenkins noted "Having been installed now for
6 weeks we have had unrivalled sales of our library stock, to
the extent that the case sales directly related to tastings offered
from the (Enomatic) machine have already exceeded its capital
cost! To say we are happy with this result would be a complete
understatement."
